Global Settlements Associate 1

The Global Settlements Associate 1 will join Alpaca's globally distributed team to manage the end-to-end global equity settlement process. In this remote role from India, a normal day involves overseeing daily settlement activities, monitoring trade matching via SWIFT and settlement platforms, investigating and resolving trade exceptions, and performing daily cash and position reconciliations across multiple global markets and currencies. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including trading, finance, compliance, and engineering to ensure seamless post-trade processing, maintain regulatory compliance, and support operational process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end global equity settlement process with custodians and counterparties.
• Monitor daily settlement activity and resolve trade discrepancies, exceptions, and failing transactions.
• Perform daily reconciliations of cash balances and securities positions across global markets.
• Investigate trade mismatches related to settlement instructions, quantities, prices, and allocations.
• Support regulatory compliance with SEC, FINRA, and global market rules.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to automate manual workflows and enhance operations.
• Produce operational reporting on settlement activity, reconciliation breaks, and metrics.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience supporting brokerage operations with a focus on global equity settlements.
• Strong understanding of securities settlement lifecycles within a broker-dealer or carrying firm.
• Experience working with third-party clearing firms and global custodians.
• Knowledge of U.S. broker-dealer operations and financial industry regulations.
• Familiarity with BNY Nexen or similar global custody settlement platforms.
• Working knowledge of SWIFT settlement messaging, Euroclear, DTCC, and international settlement practices.
• Experience settling securities across global markets including Europe and Asia.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Metabase, or similar reporting and data analysis tools.

Good to have

• Experience using AI tools such as Cursor and ChatGPT for operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with international markets such as Hong Kong and South Korea.
• Background in contributing to automated workflow projects.
• Experience supporting internal audits and regulatory examinations.
