In the role of Principal Software Engineer for Identity and Access Management, you will spearhead the creation and evolution of authentication and authorization systems at Sezzle. Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and roadmap for authentication and authorization platforms.
- Architect and build scalable auth services and gateway components using Golang and AWS.
- Design and execute zero-downtime migrations of auth traffic with safety mechanisms.
- Establish platform standards for OAuth2/OIDC, token management, and RBAC/ABAC models.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to meet strict fintech regulatory requirements.
- Mentor engineers and promote a culture of operational and technical excellence.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep backend expertise.
- Hands-on experience in authentication and authorization systems like OAuth2, OIDC, and JWT.
- Experience building or operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale service migrations with minimal impact.
- Strong proficiency in Golang and experience with SQL-based relational databases.
- Demonstrated AI-forward engineering using modern AI tools in daily development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
Good to have
- Experience with identity platforms like Keycloak, Auth0, Okta, or Ory.
- Familiarity with service mesh and edge technologies such as Envoy, Istio, and mTLS.
- Experience with threat modeling and secure design reviews.
