MariaDB plc is hiring a Senior Data Analytics Engineer for a remote position in India. MariaDB creates foundational database technology utilized by small and large companies globally, including 75% of the Fortune 500, impacting billions of daily lives through public clouds, Linux distributions, and enterprise deployments. In this role, you will join a high-impact team to build the underlying systems and pipelines for analytics rather than just creating standard dashboards. A normal day involves writing advanced SQL queries in BigQuery and MariaDB, building automation and tooling using Python and FastAPI, and utilizing AI-powered tools like Windsurf, Gemini, and Claude. You will manage the entire data domain from designing schemas and data flows to collaborating with business stakeholders and translating complex data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain analytical pipelines and reporting solutions on BigQuery and MariaDB.
• Write sophisticated, performant SQL for large-scale datasets.
• Leverage AI and machine learning features to augment analytics workflows.
• Develop internal tooling and automation using Python, FastAPI, and modern frameworks.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understand and document data architecture, lineage, and information flow across systems.
• Collaborate on business process analysis and data-driven process design improvements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in data analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Expert-level SQL skills, with BigQuery and MariaDB experience strongly preferred.
• Strong Python and/or JavaScript skills for building pipelines, internal tools, APIs, and automation.
• Deep understanding of data architecture, database structuring, and data flow.
• Hands-on experience applying AI/ML capabilities practically.
• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools such as Windsurf, Gemini, Claude, or Cursor.
• Excellent communication skills with a self-sufficient, end-to-end ownership mindset.
• A public GitHub profile demonstrating personal projects, contributions, or experiments.

Good to have

• FastAPI experience for building internal APIs and services.
• Background in business process design or operational analytics.
• Exposure to multiple business departments like Finance, Marketing, Sales, Operations, or Engineering.
• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes containerization and cluster orchestration.
