Gather AI is pioneering warehouse intelligence with a vision-powered platform that uses autonomous drones and existing equipment to capture real-time data, digitizing manual workflows to make facilities smarter, safer, and more efficient. As a Software Development Engineer II - Full Stack for the India-based team, you will build and run the web platforms behind Gather AI products like Drone Vision, MHE Vision, and SAGE, spanning customer-facing dashboards, APIs, integration layers, and data pipelines. Working in a small, distributed engineering organization alongside senior engineers, a normal day involves designing and developing features, working through the full software development lifecycle, deploying services, monitoring production systems, troubleshooting failures and performance issues, and collaborating across teams through clear written communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production backend services using Python and Node.js/NestJS.
• Design, build, and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Work with PostgreSQL in production, covering schema design, complex queries, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Build and support asynchronous workflows using message queues and distributed system patterns.
• Containerize and deploy services using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor production systems using logs, dashboards, and metrics to ensure reliability and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across APIs, integrations, queues, databases, and workflows.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Security, Customer Success, and Product teams as the platform scales.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production software.
• An engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Production experience with Python and Node.js/NestJS, with strong depth in at least one.
• Strong SQL fundamentals and hands-on relational database experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs and integrating with external systems.
• Working knowledge of distributed systems concepts, message queues, and caching strategies.
• Experience with Azure or another major cloud provider, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Good to have

• Experience building or operating data pipelines including handling failures and data-quality issues.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as warehouse or lakehouse modeling and ETL/ELT design.
• Experience with orchestration or streaming technologies like Airflow or Flink.
• Familiarity with BI and visualization tools such as Metabase or Apache Superset.
• Experience with multi-region or geo-distributed setups.
