Mapbox, the leading real-time location platform powering navigation for people, packages, and vehicles globally, is hiring a Staff Accountant in India. The company provides a comprehensive suite of tools, data, SDKs, and APIs utilized by over 4 million registered developers to build customized location-aware applications. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the accounting team. Because this is primarily a night-shift position aligned with the U.S. Eastern business day, your normal day will involve working evening and night hours, generally between 6:30 PM and 4:30 AM IST depending on daylight saving time. You will manage crucial financial processes, handle month-end and year-end close tasks, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and support audit and tax preparation efforts while utilizing platforms like NetSuite.

Responsibilities

• Manage accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for designated balance sheets and income statement accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and execute flux analysis for areas such as cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and credit cards intangibles.
• Partner with cross-functional teams across the company to facilitate a smooth accounting close process.
• Build, execute, and maintain important policies and procedures relating to assigned financial responsibilities.
• Deliver necessary support for financial statement audits and tax filing requirements upon request.
• Contribute to optimizing existing platforms, including NetSuite, Floqast, and Navan.
• Participate in ad-hoc finance and accounting projects as required.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within a corporate accounting setting.
• Hands-on experience with Netsuite.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Capacity to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with robust critical thinking capabilities.
• High level of self-motivation.
• Demonstrated excellence in time management and organizational skills.

Good to have

• Prior experience working with Floqast.
• Prior experience using Navan Expense and Travel.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
• Big 4 accounting firm experience.
