QA Engineer - APAC

Cognition, an applied AI lab and the creator of Devin, the world's first AI software engineer, is hiring a QA Engineer for the APAC region. The team consists of world-class competitive programmers, former founders, and industry leaders from top AI and tech companies. In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end product quality for cutting-edge AI software like Devin and Windsurf. A normal day involves testing complex AI workflows, designing test strategies, identifying edge cases, reproducing and debugging issues, and partnering closely with the engineering and product teams to uphold a high quality bar. You will help build scalable QA processes and automation while ensuring that releases meet the expectations of real developers, all while collaborating in a fast-paced environment that requires schedule flexibility to overlap with US time zones.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product quality across AI workflows like chat interactions and autonomous tasks.
• Design and execute functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and E2E test strategies.
• Break down complex user flows to uncover edge cases, race conditions, and real-world issues.
• Reproduce, document, and debug issues across UI, system orchestration, and AI behavior.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to define quality standards and release readiness.
• Establish scalable QA playbooks, test processes, and automation to support product scaling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA or Test Engineering experience testing complex product workflows.
• Deep expertise in functional, regression, exploratory, integration, and E2E testing methods.
• Strong developer mindset with comfort in reading or writing code like Python or TypeScript.
• User-first testing approach that evaluates from a real user perspective rather than just specs.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong debugging and bug reporting instincts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and test automation frameworks in fast-moving environments.
• Schedule flexibility with the ability to overlap with US time zones and potential weekend availability.

Good to have

• Experience testing AI-powered products with non-deterministic outputs.
• Experience testing developer tools, IDE plugins, extensions, or CLIs.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Devin, Cursor, Copilot, or Windsurf.
• Prior software engineering background with shipped production code.
