Accountant II
About this job
OpenGov is a leading provider of AI and ERP software solutions that help local and state governments across the United States operate efficiently, modernize public services, and build public trust. The OpenGov India team in Pune plays a core role in supporting this mission. As an Accountant II, you will manage India's direct and indirect tax compliance from end to end, maintaining the fixed asset register within a dual-book NetSuite environment. A normal day in this hands-on role involves working closely with the Site Controller, external consultants, and the US accounting team. You will handle monthly TDS and GST filings, manage quarterly and annual return cycles, prepare tax audit schedules, and ensure clean, reliable financial documentation that stands up to statutory and transfer pricing audits.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deposit monthly TDS, validating sections and rates across the 194 series and Section 195 during invoice booking.
- File quarterly eTDS returns, issue Forms 16A, and clear TRACES defaults via correction statements.
- Manage GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filings, run monthly GSTR-2B reconciliations, and handle vendor follow-ups.
- Apply tax reversals, blocked credits, and reverse charges while supporting LUT filings and refund claims.
- Prepare quarterly advance tax computations and supporting schedules for corporate returns and tax audits.
- Compile documentation for cross-border payments including Form 10F, TRC, and Forms 15CA and 15CB.
- Maintain the fixed asset register in NetSuite FAM under a dual-book configuration for Indian GAAP and US GAAP.
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant qualification or a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance with equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5 years of post-qualification experience across direct and indirect taxation.
- Working knowledge of TDS provisions across the 194 series and Section 195.
- Familiarity with GST compliance including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation, and annual return cycles.
- Experience preparing schedules for tax audits, statutory audits, and quarterly advance tax.
- Hands-on ERP experience along with strong Excel skills for data work and reconciliations.
- Comfortable utilizing AI-native tools to improve workflow efficiency.
Good to have
- Prior experience working with a multinational company or a global capability centre.
- Hands-on experience using NetSuite.
- Exposure to dual-book or multi-GAAP reporting across Indian GAAP and US GAAP.
- Background in the software or technology industry.
Who should apply
This role suits finance and accounting professionals early in their post-qualification careers who want complete ownership of a tax function rather than managing just a single slice of it. Candidates with solid direct and indirect taxation experience, familiarity with ERP systems, and a desire to work in a fast-paced global team environment based in Pune will find this position a great fit.
