As a Commercial Counsel for India, you will join the Legal Team to support complex commercial transactions across India and the broader APAC region. Your work will focus on SaaS contracts, licensing, and strategic partnerships, while helping the company navigate diverse legal and regulatory frameworks in the fast-evolving field of artificial intelligence. You will collaborate closely with global colleagues to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice that enables rapid growth while carefully managing risk. A normal day typically involves drafting and negotiating enterprise customer contracts, partnering with sales and go-to-market teams, interpreting evolving regional regulations, and developing localized contract playbooks to support the company's continuous expansion.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with a primary focus on GTM and Sales transactions in India.
- Partner with sales, business development, and operations teams to support high-growth go-to-market initiatives.
- Monitor and interpret region-specific legal developments including data protection, technology, and AI-related frameworks.
- Develop, maintain, and localize contract templates, playbooks, and policies to reflect regional needs.
- Provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to scaling the Legal Team's commercial function and foster a collaborative culture.
Requirements
- Law degree and qualification to practice law in India.
- 7+ years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.
- Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise software licensing, SaaS, data protection, and intellectual property.
- Experience advising on privacy, cybersecurity, and cross-border data transfer issues.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

- In-house legal experience in technology or SaaS industries.
- Experience working for a US-based or global multinational out of India with direct customer exposure.
