Implementation Engineer III
About this job
OpenGov is a leader in AI and ERP solutions for local and state governments in the U.S., helping thousands of public sector organizations operate efficiently and strengthen public trust through its Public Service Platform. As an Implementation Engineer III within the Professional Services team, you will design, configure, and enhance customer-specific applications using Government App Builder, OpenGov's proprietary low-code/no-code platform. A normal day involves partnering directly with implementation teams and customers to translate business processes into automated solutions, designing structured data models, configuring workflow automation and approval logic, implementing light scripting for complex business rules, and supporting integration initiatives. You will split your time between hands-on application configuration and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions that modernize government operations without requiring heavy full-stack engineering frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Partner with customers and implementation teams to translate operational workflows into application designs within Government App Builder.
- Design structured data models including entity relationships, cross-table references, and referential integrity.
- Configure approval workflows, routing logic, conditional triggers, status transitions, and notification rules.
- Write limited JavaScript or similar scripting for complex validations, calculations, and data transformation logic.
- Configure and validate integrations between Government App Builder and external systems such as ERP platforms.
- Serve as a technical configuration specialist within active customer implementations to troubleshoot issues and support go-live phases.
- Contribute technical effort estimates and manage work across multiple concurrent client engagements.
Requirements
- Total 3 to 9 years of work experience, including 3+ years of experience in low-code/no-code platforms or enterprise application configuration roles.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts like entity relationships, referential integrity, and normalization.
- Experience designing and implementing business workflows and approval automation.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript or similar scripting language for implementing business rules.
- Experience with integrations including REST APIs, file-based transfers, and event-based workflows.
- Strong understanding of security standards such as OAuth 2.0 and JWT, along with API documentation tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Good to have
- Experience in GovTech or public-sector workflows such as budgeting, grants management, and permitting.
- Background in Professional Services, consulting, or customer-facing implementation roles.
- Familiarity with security concepts such as role-based access control and data governance practices.
Who should apply

Candidates should possess mid-to-senior level professional experience ranging from 3 to 9 years and thrive in fast-paced, client-facing consulting environments.
