NTA UGC NET December 2026 Recruitment Overview

The National Testing Agency invites online applications for the UGC-NET December 2026 examination. This test determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor, appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D., and admission to Ph.D. only in Indian universities and colleges. The test will be conducted for 87 subjects in Computer Based Test mode.

Important Dates and Schedule

Candidates can submit their online applications from 08 October 2026 to 28 October 2026 up to 11:50 P.M. The last date for the successful submission of the examination fee is 28 October 2026 up to 11:50 P.M. Late submission of the online application form with a late fee of Rs. 500/- is available from 29 October 2026 to 31 October 2026 up to 11:50 P.M. The correction in the particulars of the online application form can be done from 02 November 2026 to 04 November 2026 up to 11:50 P.M. The date of examination is scheduled from 14 December 2026 to 19 December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria and Education

Application Fee Details

The application fee varies depending on the category of the candidate. For General or Unreserved category candidates, the fee is Rs. 1150/-. For General-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, the fee is Rs. 600/-. For SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender candidates, the application fee is Rs. 325/-. Fees can be paid through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Selection Process and Exam Mode

The selection and eligibility determination process is based on a Computer Based Test conducted across various centres. The exam dates are from 14 December 2026 to 19 December 2026. Centre, date, and shift details will be indicated on the admit card, which will be available for download at a later date.
