BJAK is looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join their remote team in India and help build AI-native systems for the BJAK AI Neobank app. Started in 2019, BJAK operates as a leading mobile-first financial and insurance platform in Southeast Asia, expanding its mission to help people spend, save, invest, and manage money better. In this role, you are not focused on pure research; instead, you act as a builder who uses artificial intelligence to automate real-world workflows, streamline internal operations, and make financial services more accessible. A normal day involves designing and deploying AI agents, collaborating with product and engineering teams to identify impactful features, managing technical constraints like latency and security, and transforming manual processes into scalable, reliable production systems.

Responsibilities

• Build AI agents, workflows, tools, and automations to solve real-world problems.
• Apply large language models, retrieval, tool calling, and guardrails to financial workflows.
• Create AI-assisted experiences for onboarding, support, KYC, risk review, and CRM.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design and rapidly ship production features.
• Handle constraints related to accuracy, hallucination risk, latency, cost, and security.
• Convert manual procedures into reliable, scalable AI-enabled systems.

Requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on engineering capability focused on practical building.
• Experience building AI agents, LLM apps, RAG systems, or automation workflows.
• Strong coding proficiency in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or a similar stack.
• Solid judgment regarding what processes should be automated.
• Ability to ship working systems, test quality, and enhance reliability over time.
• Strong English communication skills for collaborating with global teams.

Good to have

• Experience in fintech, banking, or support automation
• Background in risk, KYC, fraud, CRM, or operations automation
