Backend Software Engineer - AI Finance Agent

BJAK is hiring a Backend Software Engineer for their AI Finance Agent team to build core systems that help people plan, save, and grow their money. Founded in 2019, BJAK operates a leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia and is expanding into spending, investing, and other financial services. In this role, you will construct reliable APIs, scalable workflows, and financial product infrastructure designed to serve millions of users across multiple markets. A normal day involves designing backend services, integrating with banks and payment gateways, collaborating with product and mobile teams to launch new features quickly, and improving overall system security, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance
• Build systems that are practical, auditable and ready for regulated financial products

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams
• Strong English communication skills

Good to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products
