Plume is seeking a Manager, Engineering (SRE) to lead its Site Reliability Engineering team in Hyderabad, India. Plume builds an open and hardware-independent service delivery platform for smart homes, small businesses, and enterprises, using WiFi, advanced AI, and machine learning to power connected spaces globally. In this role, you will combine hands-on technical leadership with people management to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and performant. A normal day involves leading and mentoring engineers, collaborating with peer managers on strategic planning and OKRs, establishing best practices for incident response and disaster recovery, driving recruitment efforts, and removing roadblocks to ensure successful project delivery. You will also partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams to define reliability standards, reduce operational toil, and report on key metrics to senior leadership while empowering your team to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of site reliability engineers through regular 1:1s and career support.
• Collaborate with peer managers to deliver on strategic planning, OKR attainment, and business objectives.
• Establish and enforce best practices for incident response, problem management, change management, and disaster recovery.
• Lead recruitment efforts for SRE roles, including interviewing and developing onboarding programs.
• Provide necessary tools and resources to enable teams to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance.
• Ensure successful delivery of SRE initiatives, meeting defined SLAs and KPIs.
• Drive efforts to reduce operational toil, improve system availability, and enhance overall system stability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a similar role.
• 2+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams in a global environment.
• Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing infrastructure and platforms.
• Deep understanding of SRE principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Experience with budgeting and resource allocation.
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
