A normal day involves developing and maintaining power market models, conducting market research, analyzing production cost results using tools like Power BI and Excel, maintaining large databases from various industry sources, running simulations, troubleshooting model errors, and reviewing forecast outputs to ensure high-quality product deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain global power market models and datasets using PLEXOS and Aurora tools.
- Assist in market research, model updates, result analysis, and model benchmarking.
- Visualize and analyze production cost market model results using Power BI and Excel.
- Maintain large databases of energy-related data gathered from providers, publications, and agencies.
- Run market models, interpret output results, and review preliminary forecasts for inconsistencies.
- Troubleshoot market models and work products for errors, omissions, and potential improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a transmission preference, or Power Systems.
- 0 to 2 years of experience with energy modeling and power market analysis.
- Basic understanding of energy economics, power market fundamentals, and economic concepts.
- Knowledge of production cost modeling software like PLEXOS, Aurora, or Pro-mod.
- High level of numeracy alongside computer and web literacy.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

- Experience working at a market operator, project developer, or utility in planning or commercial operations.
