At eClinical Solutions, the Medical Coder acts as the main coding expert for assigned clinical trials, focusing on centralized medical coding tasks and serious adverse event (SAE) reconciliation. The team at eClinical Solutions supports clinical research through specialized data management and software platforms like elluminate. On a typical day, you will review clinical data for accurate coding, use dictionaries like MedDRA and WHODrug, handle SAE reconciliation across databases, and create or update coding guidelines. You will also collaborate closely with safety, clinical, and data management teams to resolve discrepancies, clear coding queries, and maintain strict compliance with industry regulations and company quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Medical Coding Guidelines and SAE reconciliation plans with sponsors
• Perform medical coding using MedDRA and WHODrug dictionaries
• Conduct reviews and approve coded terms and synonym lists for accuracy
• Handle serious adverse event reconciliation across trial databases and safety systems
• Collaborate with teams to resolve discrepancies and answer coding queries
• Document coding decisions and support coding tool maintenance and UAT testing
• Participate in dictionary up versioning and test coding tools in elluminate

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in health science or professional qualification in a scientific/technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry
• Prior medical coding experience using WHODrug and MedDRA
• Knowledge of industry standards, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with ICH/GCP guidelines, 21 CFR Part 11, and clinical trial methodology
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and experience with EDC systems
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
