At allica-bank, you will join a rapidly growing financial technology firm dedicated to supporting established SMEs that are often overlooked by traditional banks and modern fintech providers. As a Senior Data Engineer, your core mission is to manage the flow of information from various source systems into reliable reports and insights that the entire business depends on daily. You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in a hands-on position that bridges data engineering and business intelligence. A normal day involves building and maintaining robust ETL and ELT pipelines, designing and updating Power BI semantic models so teams can easily self-serve, and collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders. You will also oversee key recurring data processes, manage data tooling like Synapse Analytics, ensure platform stability, and help implement AI capabilities that allow business users to query data using natural language.
Responsibilities
- Deliver trusted, analysis-ready data by owning end-to-end data flows from source systems.
- Design, implement, and optimise data pipelines for reliable ETL and ELT operations.
- Maintain the semantic layer in Power BI and build dashboards to support business decisions.
- Manage end-to-end recurring data processes such as CAIS, DCM, and data tapes.
- Own data tooling configuration, security, access, maintenance, and user training.
- Ensure platform observability, resolve technical incidents, and handle BAU requests.
- Enable business users to query data via AI using natural language.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or BI professional.
- Solid proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with Azure Synapse or Azure Data Factory.
- Strong skills in Power BI.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to work UK working hours.
- Experience working in a regulated industry with compliance implications.
