AlphaSense is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for Product Platforms to lead teams building shared product platforms. AlphaSense provides AI-driven market intelligence and search solutions to help the world's most sophisticated companies make confident decisions. The role covers API-first platforms that power multiple product surfaces, integrations, and agentic workflows, alongside a usage platform that meters and reports AI credit consumption. The platform operates as a dedicated product featuring well-designed APIs and reliable contracts rather than internal plumbing. A normal day involves leading and growing backend and platform engineering teams, managing delivery schedules, partnering with product and finance stakeholders, reviewing architecture, and ensuring operational excellence across globally distributed environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of backend and platform engineers across API and usage areas.
• Own delivery commitments, execution quality, and predictable outcomes for shared platforms.
• Direct usage metering, AI credit accounting, accuracy, auditability, latency, and pipeline costs.
• Partner with Product to shape a platform roadmap driven by actual product and customer needs.
• Drive hiring, build strong pipelines, and uphold API governance and backward compatibility.
• Ensure operational excellence including SLOs, observability, and incident follow-through.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing backend or platform engineering teams, including hiring and career development.
• Strong hands-on engineering background in backend or distributed systems.
• Experience with product platforms or shared services consumed by multiple product teams.
• Track record of delivering and operating APIs at scale with grounding in RESTful API design.
• Experience with data-intensive systems involving high-volume event ingestion and reporting.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to influence technical direction across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Good to have

• Experience with consumption or usage-based business models and metering.
• Experience with AI cost, token, or credit accounting systems.
• Experience building agentic and AI-driven workflows.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar agent integration patterns.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams.
