Fanatics Commerce, the global leader in licensed sports merchandise, is looking for an experienced professional for the Software Engineer III - Cobol role in Hyderabad, India. The company operates a vertically integrated platform serving sports fans worldwide through e-commerce sites and an omnichannel presence. This position focuses on sustaining and evolving mission-critical ERP systems built on Informix 4GL and COBOL for the Fanatics Brands team. A normal day in this role involves maintaining core operations such as Order Management, Inventory Control, and Fulfillment, refactoring legacy code, providing incident resolution and break-fix support, building APIs to connect legacy systems with modern platforms like Manhattan Active, and optimizing database performance while balancing system stability with modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business analysts to translate ERP requirements into reliable technical solutions for Order Management, Inventory, and Fulfillment.
• Refactor and modernize legacy Informix 4GL and COBOL code to improve maintainability and performance.
• Provide timely incident resolution and break-fix support for the ERP stack to minimize business disruption.
• Build APIs and wrapper services connecting legacy systems with modern platforms like Manhattan Active.
• Optimize Informix database schemas, stored procedures, and SQL queries for system scalability.
• Take end-to-end ownership of ERP module development, enhancement, and maintenance across the lifecycle.
• Document legacy business logic and integration patterns to support ongoing modernization efforts.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Informix 4GL and Informix SQL with hands-on ERP module experience.
• Experience with COBOL for ERP development, including legacy code refactoring and modernization.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments.
• Demonstrated experience across ERP functional domains including Order Management, Inventory Control, and Fulfillment.
• Understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and batch-driven workflows.
• 5+ years of ERP development experience with Informix 4GL.
• 2+ years of COBOL development experience.

Good to have

• AIX environment experience.
• Prior experience in retail or supply chain ERP environments.
• Exposure to platforms such as Manhattan Active.
• Experience exploring tools such as Genero or similar low-code platforms.
