As a Staff Engineer for Product Infrastructure in Bengaluru, you will own the end-to-end system that allows customers to build, configure, deploy, and operate voice agents and campaigns at scale, currently handling over 50 million minutes of monthly conversations. This is an individual contributor role without people management responsibilities. A normal day involves overseeing data models, APIs, orchestration, reliability, and performance. You will design backend services in Python and FastAPI, manage workflow orchestration with Temporal, ensure sub-second latency for a multi-tenant SaaS platform, set engineering standards through RFCs and documentation, and collaborate closely with the Next.js frontend team to deliver a high-quality user experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end backend for agent, campaign, and user management using Python and FastAPI.
• Manage workflow orchestration using Temporal for complex, long-running, stateful operations.
• Drive performance and reliability for a multi-tenant SaaS platform operating at sub-second latency SLOs.
• Establish comprehensive observability including logging, metrics, and tracing for quick production debugging.
• Build and maintain integration test infrastructure to ship updates without breaking customer-facing systems.
• Collaborate closely with the Next.js frontend team to deliver a seamless user experience.
• Set a design-first and documentation-first engineering culture by writing RFCs and recording architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of experience building production backend systems.
• Deep expertise in Python and FastAPI, or Golang.
• Proven track record of full-stack ownership, designing, and operating end-to-end systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration at scale, ideally using Temporal.
• Experience building and operating high-scale, multi-tenant, low-latency distributed systems under real load.
• Strong PostgreSQL and Redis fundamentals covering schema design, query performance, and caching strategy.
• Strong technical judgment regarding building versus buying, optimizing versus shipping, and abstraction.

Good to have

• Experience building products on top of LLMs or AI/ML systems.
• Background in telephony, VoIP, or SIP infrastructure.
• Previous experience at an early- or growth-stage startup with comfort in ambiguity, speed, and ownership.
