As a Staff Software Engineer for Frontend at Sarvam AI in Bengaluru, you will take on a hands-on technical leadership role solving difficult frontend problems for large-scale AI products. A normal day involves designing scalable frontend architecture, tackling real-time and streaming challenges, managing complex user workflows, building reliable interfaces for AI-generated responses, and collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams. You will also lead technical decisions, mentor engineers, and shape frontend engineering standards across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own frontend architecture for complex, high-scale AI applications.
• Solve challenges involving real-time interactions, streaming data, and asynchronous workflows.
• Build reliable interfaces for AI-generated responses, long-running tasks, and tool calls.
• Improve frontend performance covering loading, rendering, network usage, memory, and bundle size.
• Design reusable frontend infrastructure, components, and patterns for cross-team adoption.
• Handle production issues, improve observability, and strengthen testing, CI/CD, and reliability.
• Lead architecture discussions, guide technical decisions, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on frontend expertise.
• Deep experience utilizing JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Strong knowledge of frontend architecture, browser fundamentals, networking, and rendering.
• Experience in designing and scaling large production frontend applications.
• Solid understanding of state management, APIs, caching, authentication, and async systems.
• Experience building real-time or streaming experiences using WebSockets, SSE, or streaming APIs.
• Strong system-design skills with the ability to make practical architectural trade-offs.

Good to have

• Understanding of video and audio fundamentals and media workflows at scale.
• Experience building frontend experiences for video/audio processing or dubbing workflows.
• Understanding of document digitization workflows, handling large files, and processing jobs.
• Experience building frontend applications dealing with progress tracking, retries, and partial results.
