As a Staff Software Engineer at NetDocuments in Hyderabad, India, you will serve as a primary hands-on builder tackling complex platform and tooling problems for the DevX team. NetDocuments builds an intelligent document management platform for legal professionals, aiming to help organizations work smarter and unlock institutional knowledge. Your normal day involves driving high-impact projects end-to-end with minimal oversight, shaping technical direction, mentoring team members, leading by example in design and code reviews, and partnering with the Principal Software Engineer on architecture decisions. You will also participate in technical hiring, communicate technical standards through design documents, and occasionally travel to the US for collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary hands-on builder for complex platform and tooling problems within the DevX team.
• Drive complex, high-impact projects end-to-end with minimal oversight and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Shape and constructively challenge technical direction while partnering on architecture and build-vs-buy recommendations.
• Build direct technical trust with other engineering teams and participate in interviews for Senior engineering candidates.
• Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and lead by example in design and code reviews.
• Communicate technical decisions through design docs and Architecture Decision Reviews to build team buy-in.
• Travel occasionally to the US for approximately 1 to 2 weeks per year to deepen collaboration with US engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, currently operating at the Staff level.
• Deep hands-on experience building internal developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or platform engineering at scale.
• Strong fluency across C#, .NET, Python, AWS, and Java.
• Experience shaping technical direction and influencing other engineers without formal management authority.
• Experience mentoring engineers and participating in technical hiring and interviews.
• Strong technical judgment and communication skills to build trust with distributed engineering teams.

Good to have

• Prior experience as a Staff-level engineer on a Platform or Developer Experience team.
• Experience acting as a technical bridge between distributed, cross-country engineering teams.
• Experience in legal technology, professional-services SaaS, or other regulated enterprise software environments.
• Public examples of technical leadership such as conference speaking, technical writing, or open-source contributions.
