As a Forward Deployed Architect at MongoDB in Gurugram, you will serve as the technical design lead for independent software vendor engagements. You will collaborate closely with development leaders, senior engineers, and Forward Deployed Engineers to shape how MongoDB integrates with partner products. This application architecture position focuses on practical, production-ready designs rather than standard database administration. A normal day typically involves leading technical design reviews, establishing data models, designing migration paths and coexistence architectures, prototyping critical application paths, and building reusable architecture assets to accelerate future partner engagements under a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design for independent software vendor engagements by defining data models and integration approaches.
• Design MongoDB as a supported platform option alongside traditional relational databases like Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Architect coexistence strategies and migration paths including data flows, synchronization, and dual-run execution.
• Lead technical design reviews and evaluate schemas, queries, and performance against realistic workloads.
• Design solutions across MongoDB Atlas, Enterprise Advanced, Kubernetes clouds, and on-premises environments.
• Build reusable architecture patterns, migration playbooks, and code templates for future partner projects.
• Maintain hands-on involvement by reviewing partner code, prototyping critical paths, and acting as a technical escalation point.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering and application architecture experience delivering production software products.
• Strong application-side MongoDB expertise including data modeling, aggregation, indexing, and sharding.
• Application-level experience with major relational databases and integrating new databases into large codebases.
• Experience designing workload migrations between relational databases and MongoDB.
• Strong SaaS and product-engineering knowledge including multi-tenancy, tenant isolation, and versioned schemas.
• Ability to influence engineers and stakeholders through practical designs and clear communication of trade-offs.
• Willingness to travel regularly to independent software vendor partner locations.

Good to have

• Experience working inside an independent software vendor or product company in a forward-deployed or embedded role.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka or Debezium.
• Experience with regulated or data-intensive industries and their security and governance requirements.
• MongoDB certification, MongoDB Atlas experience, or familiarity with MongoDB's broader product portfolio.
