Notion is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join its growing team in Hyderabad, India. Notion builds a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together, combining knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools into one platform. In this role, you will help deliver complex, production-grade data migrations, integrations, and automations for customers across the APAC region. Initially, this is a hands-on, internally focused engineering position where you will partner with regional Forward Deployed Engineers who handle customer discovery and solution architecture. You will own the behind-the-scenes technical execution layer, spanning feasibility assessment, implementation, testing, production rollout, quality assurance, reconciliation, reporting, and operational handoff. Additionally, as a founding engineer in India, you will help establish a new regional engineering capability from the ground up by building migration infrastructure, standards, and reusable tooling used across APAC, while turning delivery work into repeatable playbooks.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical execution layer for customer data migrations, integrations, and automations after architecture and requirements are established.
• Build production-quality migration utilities, backend services, data pipelines, integrations, and automations using Python, SQL, APIs, and databases.
• Design migrations focusing on reliability, security, scalability, observability, idempotency, and safe failure recovery.
• Build validation and reconciliation frameworks to provide clear evidence of migration completeness, accuracy, and exceptions.
• Investigate source-system behavior, data quality issues, rate limits, and authentication constraints to recommend practical solutions.
• Convert repeated delivery patterns into reusable components, documentation, automation, and playbooks to scale operations.
• Bring field learnings back to Notion's Product and Engineering teams as actionable platform feedback.

Requirements

• 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in backend engineering, data engineering, integration engineering, implementation engineering, or technical consulting.
• Strong hands-on Python development experience.
• Working experience with Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data transformation.
• Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, authentication, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Experience owning a production migration, integration, or technical implementation through rollout, validation, and handoff.
• Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, release practices, and production deployment.
