Senior Engineer - Enterprise Architecture

MongoDB is looking for a Senior Engineer for Enterprise Architecture to join a focused team working on AI experimentation. MongoDB provides a unified data platform and cloud-native database services that help organizations modernize legacy systems and adopt AI technologies. In this role, you will be part of a hybrid team based in Gurugram, partnering with internal engineering and other departments to explore, prototype, and validate new AI capabilities before they reach roadmap priorities. A normal day involves designing and running experiments, building lightweight prototypes to quickly test or dismiss ideas, keeping up with new AI tooling and models, partnering with different teams for handoffs, and clearly documenting findings and risks.

Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments testing new AI capabilities against real internal use cases.
• Build lightweight prototypes to quickly validate or discard ideas.
• Stay updated on emerging AI models and tools to create internal proof points.
• Partner with product, platform, and internal engineering teams for handoffs of validated capabilities.
• Maintain technical rigor and document findings clearly, even for work that does not ship.
• Identify and communicate risks, unknowns, and open questions to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep experience with at least one modern programming language such as Python, Typescript, Go, or Rust.
• Strong technical judgment with the ability to independently solve complex engineering problems.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating across teams and disciplines.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and scoping experiments when the right approach is unclear.
• Hands-on experience prototyping with LLMs or agentic systems including evaluations, fine-tuning, RAG, and orchestration frameworks.
• Ability to iterate fast when requirements are not clear.

Good to have

• Experience building and maintaining full-stack applications from front-end UIs to backend APIs and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of technologies like Tanstack Start, Next.js, FastAPI, or React.
• Experience with model evaluation frameworks, vector databases, or agent orchestration tooling like LangGraph.
• Familiarity with transformer architecture and model internals.
• Familiarity with containerized applications, Kubernetes, and designing CI/CD pipelines.
