Senior Software Engineer, Data Processing

Truveta, a health provider-led data platform focused on saving lives with data, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Data Processing to join the founding team of its new India Development Center in Hyderabad. In this role, you will be part of the Data Platform group, which handles the ingestion, processing, storage, and serving of massive-scale healthcare data with strict correctness, reliability, and speed. A normal day involves owning a processing domain or data capability, designing scalable and reliable cloud-native architectures, solving systemic data-quality and cost issues, writing clear technical documents, reviewing designs, mentoring SDE2 and SDE3 engineers, and remaining hands-on through critical-path coding and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Own a platform, processing domain, or multi-team data capability along with its technical roadmap.
• Define and clearly document domain architecture to enable autonomous building by teams.
• Drive cross-team initiatives focused on modernization, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Resolve recurring systemic problems related to incidents, cost spikes, and data-quality defects.
• Influence multi-team technical direction via design reviews, written documentation, and prototypes.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards across the domain without relying on direct reporting lines.
• Mentor SDE2 and SDE3 engineers to elevate the overall design capabilities of the group.
• Remain hands-on with prototypes, critical path code, and complex debugging tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 to 12 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven ownership of a platform or domain with long-lasting architectural impact.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and large-scale production data processing.
• Strong, current, hands-on coding abilities.
• Demonstrated cross-team influence through the successful adoption of designed architectures.
• Cloud-native architecture experience on Azure or equivalent, with depth in cost, reliability, and security.
• Track record of mentoring senior engineers and improving group design practices.

Good to have

• Experience with healthcare data, clinical informatics, or heavily regulated data domains.
• Background in standing up or scaling an engineering site or new platform area from zero.
• Experience in governance, data lineage, privacy-preserving processing, or large-scale de-identification.
• Public technical writing, conference speaking, or sustained open-source contributions.
