Senior Staff Engineer, Atlas Agent Engine

MongoDB is expanding its Products and Technology team in Gurugram and is looking for a Senior Staff Engineer. The team is currently building a new platform designed to help customers create AI applications using MongoDB, focusing on cutting-edge technologies that enable large-scale deployment. As part of this role, you will provide technical direction, shape the architecture, and implement core components of this new product. MongoDB creates a unified, globally distributed data platform that empowers organizations to modernize workloads and embrace AI. On a normal day, your time will involve collaborating with product management, research, design, and engineering peers, designing and delivering well-tested platform features, participating in code reviews, and mentoring fellow engineers to ensure high performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with research, product management, engineering, and design peers to define the first version and future evolution of the service.
• Design, build, and deliver well-tested core pieces of the new platform.
• Contribute to shaping the architecture, code reviews, development practices, and developer experience.
• Mentor fellow engineers and assume ownership and accountability of projects.
• Identify problems, implement solutions, and deliver complex projects in distributed systems or databases.
• Lead projects involving distributed systems infrastructure from conception to delivery.

Requirements

• Strong background in building core components for high-scale compute and data distributed systems.
• 15+ years of experience in building distributed systems and/or foundational cloud services at scale.
• Interest in working with Python, Go, and Java.
• Proven success in designing, writing, testing, debugging, performance tuning, and maintaining distributed or highly concurrent software systems.
• Track record of identifying problems, implementing solutions, and delivering complex projects.
• Experience leading large projects involving distributed systems infrastructure or leading multiple squads through staff engineers.
• Good verbal and written technical communication skills with a desire to collaborate.

Good to have

• Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with AI frameworks and tools.
