Software Engineer 3, AI Framework Integrations

MongoDB is establishing a brand-new engineering team within the AI Builders Experience (ABX) organization in Gurugram, and is looking for a Software Engineer 3 for AI Framework Integrations. The team builds and maintains the connective layer between MongoDB and external AI tools, frameworks, and platforms like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n, enabling developers to integrate MongoDB easily into their AI tech stacks. Working primarily in Python and TypeScript, you will design, test, and ship integrations, contribute code upstream to open-source repositories, and collaborate closely with adjacent teams and product partners. A normal day involves writing and reviewing code, pairing with teammates on complex technical challenges, participating in external maintainer review cycles, triaging issues, and managing well-scoped projects from initial design through release while adapting to shifting ecosystem priorities.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across an AI framework ecosystem including LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n.
• Own well-scoped projects end to end from design to release while communicating progress and trade-offs.
• Contribute high-quality code upstream to third-party repositories and navigate external review cycles.
• Collaborate with the DBX org and other adjacent teams when work relies on driver or platform capabilities.
• Maintain integration health by monitoring upstream breaking changes, handling upgrades, and triaging issues.
• Develop specialized knowledge of Python or TypeScript AI builder ecosystems and share insights with the team.
• Write clear documentation, provide helpful code reviews, and follow through on team commitments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems, libraries, or developer-facing software.
• Solid proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience designing, writing, testing, and debugging software in a shared, long-lived codebase.
• Track record of delivering scoped projects reliably and on time with growing independence.
• Clear interest in modern AI builder workflows, vector search, retrieval, and developer tooling.
• Solid verbal and written technical communication skills for clear documentation and collaboration.
• Curious, collaborative mindset with intellectual honesty and a strong foundational eagerness to learn.

Good to have

• Open source contributions in external repositories you do not own.
• Experience building AI or framework integrations, MCP servers, agent skills, or plugins.
• Familiarity with databases and MongoDB query patterns, vector search, or embedding pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Java, Go, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, containerization tools, and Jira.
