Software Engineer 3 - Enterprise Architecture

MongoDB is seeking a Software Engineer 3 for Enterprise Architecture to join a specialized team focused on AI experimentation in Gurugram. MongoDB provides a unified data platform designed to help organizations modernize workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI through its cloud-native platform, MongoDB Atlas. In this role, you will partner with various internal teams to explore, prototype, and validate emerging AI capabilities before they transition into formal roadmap priorities. A normal day involves building lightweight prototypes, designing experiments to test AI capabilities against real internal use cases, staying up to date with new AI tools and models, and documenting findings with technical rigor. You will operate in a hybrid work environment, collaborating closely across disciplines to rapidly iterate on ideas, even when initial requirements are unclear, and communicating risks and unknowns effectively to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments testing emerging AI capabilities against internal use cases.
• Build lightweight prototypes to quickly validate or dismiss new ideas.
• Stay updated on new AI tooling and models to create internal proof points.
• Partner with product, platform, and internal engineering teams to hand off validated capabilities.
• Maintain technical rigor and clear documentation of all findings.
• Identify and communicate risks, unknowns, and open questions to stakeholders.
• Condense experiment learnings for use across the organization.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep experience with at least one modern programming language such as Python, Typescript, Go, or Rust.
• Strong technical judgment to independently solve complex engineering problems.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-team and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and running experiments with unclear approaches.
• Hands-on experience prototyping with LLMs or agentic systems.
• Ability to iterate fast when requirements lack clarity.

Good to have

• Experience building and maintaining full-stack applications from UI to data pipelines.
• Knowledge of Tanstack Start, Next.js, FastAPI, or React.
• Experience with model evaluation frameworks, vector databases, or LangGraph.
• Familiarity with transformer architecture, model internals, and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing systems or services used by other engineers.
