The Software Engineer 3 role at MongoDB involves joining the Application Modernization Platform (AMP) team in Gurugram. MongoDB is a data platform company that helps organizations transform rigid legacy applications into modern, microservices-based architectures. The AMP team builds platform foundations and infrastructure allowing a build-once, run-anywhere model, enabling AI-powered modernization suites to operate within strict client environments. In a normal day, you will design automated frameworks that validate functional equivalence, performance benchmarks, and data integrity. You will write code for modernization services, build testing frameworks utilizing LLMs for unit test generation, collaborate with product management and peers, participate in code reviews, review technical design documents, and help troubleshoot complex technical issues in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute high-quality, well-tested code to the modernization and framework team and its surrounding services.
• Collaborate effectively with Product Management, engineers, and designers to build and deliver the product roadmap.
• Participate actively in code reviews to enforce best practices and patterns.
• Help troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in distributed systems.
• Give and solicit feedback on technical design documents and pull requests.
• Perform tasks related to processes such as CI/CD, quality, and testing.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience with at least one JVM language such as Java, preferably using the Spring ecosystem.
• Expertise integrating Large Language Models into the developer workflow for unit test generation and edge-case discovery.
• Experience building developer tools, infrastructure, or complex testing frameworks.
• Solid background in software architecture and development.
• Expertise in application or database modernization with proven ability to design state equivalence frameworks.
• Understanding of change data capture, event-driven database interception, and state comparison algorithms.
• Extensive experience with relational and document data modeling, SQL databases, and document databases like MongoDB.

Good to have

• Strong Spring Boot or equivalent Java framework skills.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar SQL databases.
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and time and space complexity.
• Curiosity, a positive attitude, and a drive to continue learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
