As a Staff Software Engineer, Tech Foundations at Airbnb in Bangalore, you will drive the development of an AI-driven growth platform that serves as a core engine for supply expansion. Your daily routine involves designing technical systems, balancing short- and long-term product tradeoffs, and leading engineers within and outside your immediate team. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to shape product requirements, contribute directly to prototyping and implementation, and foster a culture of technical excellence. Operating within Airbnb's CRM Engineering team, you will help build world-class tools and platforms that foster meaningful relationships between the company and its community of hosts, guests, and regulators. You will tackle complex technical challenges, mentor fellow engineers, and ensure high system quality and availability across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design future-state technical systems by combining strategic product goals with a deep understanding of existing architectures.
• Lead engineers across teams in building out scalable technical solutions and features.
• Engage early with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to help shape product and UX requirements.
• Nurture a culture of technical quality spanning from design and code reviews to production operations.
• Mentor other engineers to improve their technical capabilities and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Identify and solve obstacles that hinder engineering excellence and product delivery.
• Collaborate globally with internal engineering teams across tech foundations, hosting, guest, mobile, and data.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Strong proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, or Python.
• Experience working with modern frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Proven track record of delivering end-to-end products from ideation and planning to launch.
• Familiarity with large-scale web application architecture, well-designed APIs, and high-volume data pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions and articulate complex technical trade-offs.
• Strong communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration with distributed teams.
