Engineering Manager - DevOps
About this job
OpenFX is building next-generation cross-border payment infrastructure for institutions, backed by top investors and scaling rapidly. As an Engineering Manager - DevOps based in Bengaluru, you will lead a pod of over 10 engineers responsible for the entire infrastructure that powers trading, banking, payments, and settlement products. The role places you at the intersection of high-scale systems, stringent regulatory compliance, and resilient cloud foundations. On a normal day, you will guide your team on the engineering roadmap, manage cloud budgets, oversee reliable CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate closely with InfoSec and compliance teams. You will balance leadership duties—such as growing and mentoring engineers and hiring top talent—with hands-on technical tasks like reviewing designs, debugging production incidents, and writing Terraform or pipeline code when your team needs extra support.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a DevOps pod of 10+ engineers, managing roadmaps, engineering standards, and cloud budgets.
- Own system resilience by designing failover mechanisms and validating them through regular drills.
- Build compliance controls directly into the platform for DORA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery path including CI/CD, environments, secrets management, and rollouts.
- Oversee observability, support incident response for tier-1 services, and lead blameless post-mortems.
- Collaborate with InfoSec, Compliance, and Legal to integrate security requirements early into platform design.
- Hire, mentor, and perform talent management to help engineers continuously grow in skill and scope.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
- 4+ years of experience managing an infrastructure team at scale.
- Experience operating in a regulated or audited environment.
- Proven experience running production infrastructure for high-traffic, multi-region systems.
- Ability to write Terraform, Helm, and pipeline code and debug production incidents.
- Demonstrated experience in hiring, performance management, and people leadership.
- Experience using AI agents and assistants to automate operational toil.
Good to have
- Experience running infrastructure in fintech, payments, banking, or exchanges.
- Multi-cloud production experience with AWS alongside GCP or Azure.
- Hands-on experience with DORA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR audits.
- Experience with chaos engineering or game-day programmes.
Who should apply
This role suits an experienced infrastructure and engineering leader who has successfully scaled teams and managed high-traffic, multi-region production environments. Candidates must have a strong background in regulated industries, compliance frameworks, and hands-on cloud automation. It is ideal for managers who lead by growing the people around them, champion clear asynchronous communication, and remain technically capable of writing code and debugging when needed.
