WPP is seeking an experienced Global Data Steward to join the team in Chennai, India, supporting WPP Media’s global Master Data Management initiative. WPP acts as a trusted growth partner for the world’s leading brands, uniting media intelligence, data solutions, creativity, and enterprise solutions through its platform, WPP Open. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the integrity of Golden Master Data assets across domains like clients, media, and suppliers. A normal day involves reviewing and validating AI-assisted mapping recommendations using WPP's internal Matrix tool, assessing new master data additions, driving local and finance teams to resolve missing information, and ensuring that master data decisions are correct and fit for long-term enterprise use.
Responsibilities
- Review, validate, and approve AI-generated mapping recommendations using WPP Media's Matrix tool.
- Assess and approve new master data additions to the Golden List across multiple domains.
- Drive local, market, and finance teams to complete required mappings and resolve missing information.
- Challenge, reject, or return mappings and requests where data is incomplete or incorrect.
- Take ownership of the end-to-end stewardship flow to prevent queue stagnation.
- Provide structured feedback into Matrix to improve AI-assisted mastering efficiency.
- Collaborate with Local Data Stewards, Finance, Product, and Platform teams.
Requirements
- Experience in Master Data Management, data stewardship, data governance, or data quality roles.
- Strong understanding of master data concepts including golden records and deduplication.
- Experience working with MDM tools and approval workflows.
- Comfortable reviewing and challenging AI-assisted or rule-based mappings.
- Highly structured, organized, and comfortable pushing stakeholders to meet standards.
- Strong attention to detail combined with long-term and cross-domain thinking.
- Clear communicator able to interact with business, finance, and technical teams.
Good to have
- Experience with internally built MDM tools.
- Experience operating within formal governance and decision-authority models.
