As a Lead Software Engineer, you will combine hands-on backend engineering with team leadership. In this role, you will oversee a small group of developers, guide technical strategy, and contribute to system architecture. A normal day involves writing clean code, conducting code reviews, collaborating with cross-functional teams like Product, QA, and DevOps, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring the delivery of secure and scalable microservices. You will drive engineering standards, mentor team members, and participate in technical decision-making to support business growth.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and design for Java-based backend applications and microservices.
• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of developers while supporting their career growth.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Design RESTful APIs and event-driven services using messaging tools like Kafka.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to define requirements and build CI/CD pipelines.
• Enforce coding standards and best practices through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Optimize application and database performance and troubleshoot complex production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of Java development experience
• 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring a development team
• Strong expertise in Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and REST API design
• Experience with relational databases, NoSQL stores, and messaging systems like Apache Kafka
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and Agile development practices

Good to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or high-volume transaction systems
• Knowledge of reactive programming and observability tools like Datadog or Prometheus
• Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect
• Exposure to frontend frameworks like React or Angular
