As a Sustaining Software Engineer for Android based in Bengaluru, you will be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on building and maintaining Android applications that drive real-world payment devices. A normal day in this role involves designing and developing on-device and off-device Android applications, building proof-of-concepts, collaborating cross-functionally with engineering and product teams, and debugging complex production issues. You will also work on performance optimization, participate in CI/CD and test automation improvements, and help resolve customer challenges while gaining deep expertise in the fintech and payments industry.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android applications for Verifone payment systems.
• Build proof-of-concepts and demos highlighting product integrations and workflows.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and support teams.
• Contribute to performance optimization, debugging tools, and release readiness.
• Analyze, debug, and resolve customer-reported issues and production defects.
• Participate in test automation, CI/CD enhancements, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Android or embedded/mobile software development.
• Strong experience in Android application development using Java and/or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of Android architecture, lifecycle management, and performance tuning.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, backend integration, and asynchronous communication.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience debugging complex systems across device, OS, and network layers.

Good to have

• Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems concepts.
• Exposure to containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Familiarity or interest in AI-assisted development tools.
