Project Manager (AI Governance) - Enterprise AI

WPP is seeking a Project Manager for AI Governance within its Enterprise AI team in Chennai, India. A normal day in this role involves maintaining the governance evidence base for Enterprise AI, supporting responsible AI practices, monitoring the agent estate, coordinating governance reviews and risk assessments, and partnering with technology, risk, security, legal, and compliance stakeholders to ensure controls are embedded early and decisions remain audit-ready.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the governance evidence base for Enterprise AI to ensure decisions, approvals, and controls are audit-ready.
• Support the implementation of responsible AI practices covering data handling, acceptable use, and risk management.
• Monitor the Enterprise AI agent estate to help register, review, and govern new capabilities appropriately.
• Support the development, communication, and maintenance of Enterprise AI policies, standards, and frameworks.
• Coordinate governance reviews, approvals, and risk assessments with delivery and programme teams.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing required documentation and process visibility.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, Security, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders to support a consistent governance approach.

Requirements

• Working exposure to Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365 governance, or digital transformation programmes.
• Experience in governance, risk, compliance, controls, audit, or operational assurance in a multinational organization.
• Strong understanding of governance principles and the importance of accurate records and audit trails.
• Experience working with technology, data, digital transformation, or enterprise platforms in a governance capacity.
• Knowledge of technology risk, data handling controls, and regulatory or policy-driven environments.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation discipline.
• Ability to assess issues objectively, make balanced recommendations, and work with senior stakeholders.

Good to have

• Experience in a regulated, audit-scoped, or highly controlled environment.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, responsible AI principles, or emerging technology risk management.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar workflow, governance, or controls platforms.
• Previous experience within a global matrix organization in technology, media, consulting, or professional services.
