Senior Backend Engineer, AI Platform

Nightfall AI is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru. Nightfall operates an AI-native data loss prevention and insider risk management platform that helps numerous customers, from AI pioneers to major banks, protect sensitive information across various SaaS, GenAI, and endpoint tools. In this role, you will help design and deliver a secure, reliable, and large-scale platform. A typical day involves building robust authentication and API services, designing low-latency real-time microservices, evolving internal databases, and developing high-volume auto-scaling data infrastructure that supports machine learning inferencing and agentic processing workflows. You will also work on creating large-scale observability and writing comprehensive technical documentation for both internal and public-facing services.

Responsibilities

• Build highly available and secure authentication and API services
• Maintain and evolve mission-critical internal databases and services
• Architect, optimize, and operate high-volume auto-scaling data infrastructure for ML inferencing and agentic processing
• Design agentic systems for concurrent workflows while optimizing LLM accuracy, cost, and scalability
• Build large-scale observability for performance and customer usage insights
• Write and maintain documentation for internal and public services

Requirements

• Expertise in systems or high-level programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++
• Grounded foundation in Computer Science, Data Structures, and Algorithms
• Experience running scalable and reliable systems handling thousands of RPS with high reliability
• Experience developing complex distributed systems scaling to substantial data volumes or millions of users
• Experience with large-scale distributed storage and database systems like SQL, NoSQL, Postgres, or Cassandra
• Ability to decompose complex business problems and lead a team in solving them
• Experience with real-time complex data processing pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Snowflake, Hadoop, or Zookeeper
• 6+ years of experience with proven technical leadership in scalable, distributed architectures

Good to have

• Experience building Search and Agentic AI systems at massive scale including text summarization and semantic search
• Experience with prompt and context engineering, agent orchestration, ML, and evals
