Commvault, a recognized leader in cyber resilience and data protection, is seeking a Senior Engineer - DevOps to join their Hyperscale (HSX) Engineering team in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. In this role, the selected professional will focus on building robust automation frameworks, enhancing system deployment capabilities, and optimizing infrastructure reliability across distributed environments. A typical day for this Senior Engineer involves designing and maintaining configuration management tools using Python, Shell scripting, and Ansible, automating bare-metal and cloud resource provisioning, building Infrastructure as Code solutions, and troubleshooting complex system issues by analyzing application logs, network behavior, and performance metrics. Team members collaborate closely with development, QA, support, and cross-functional partners to deliver scalable, high-quality enterprise solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automation scripts using Python, Shell, and Ansible for server provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and patching in Hyperscale environments.
• Build automation frameworks for deploying clustering, high-availability, monitoring components, and S3 storage configurations.
• Manage Infrastructure as Code solutions and automate virtual machine resources across VMware, Hyper-V, and major cloud platforms.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and network behavior to diagnose root causes for complex product and customer issues.
• Develop internal tools and utilize AI-assisted software development tools like GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity and modernize legacy components.
• Validate software compatibility across diverse operating systems, hardware platforms, and hypervisors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 4 or more years of professional experience.
• Strong software development experience utilizing Python and Shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation technologies like Ansible.
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, system administration, networking, storage, and distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), container tools (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with bare-metal provisioning, PXE network boot technologies, and Git-based development workflows.

Good to have

• Experience with enterprise storage, backup, recovery, or data-management platforms.
• Security and SaaS experience strongly preferred.
