Redwood Software is seeking a Senior Installation Package Development & Validation Engineer for a 6-month contract role based in Hyderabad, India. In this position, you will own, modernize, and automate the multi-platform installer ecosystem, ensuring seamless software rollouts across various enterprise environments. The role involves working closely with core engineering, security, and quality teams to eliminate installation obstacles and support robust enterprise security standards. A normal day in this role involves developing and maintaining Windows InstallShield and Linux InstallAnywhere packages, writing VBScript and Java custom actions, handling enterprise security logic like gMSA, managing database provisioning via JDBC, and orchestrating CI/CD automation pipelines using tools like Gradle and GitHub Actions to test installer reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Windows InstallShield (.msi) and Linux/Unix InstallAnywhere (.iap_xml) installer packages.
• Write and manage VBScript, JScript, and Java custom actions for deployment and upgrade logic.
• Configure installer logic for Windows Group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA) and silent response file modes.
• Ensure safe property file retention and migration during software upgrades and reinstalls.
• Integrate JDBC engines and align multi-dialect DDL scripts for Oracle, Azure SQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Maintain shared Gradle build-logic tasks and manage staging workflows across packaging build VMs.
• Build CI/CD workflows in GitHub Actions using Docker containers for automated installer integration testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise software packaging, installation engineering, and installer validation.
• Advanced expertise in Revenera InstallShield, Windows Installer MSI technology, and custom action execution contexts.
• Practical experience developing Linux and Unix installers using Revenera InstallAnywhere.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as VBScript, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Solid understanding of Java runtime configuration, JAR packaging, and JDBC database connectivity.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle Database DDL execution and permissions.
• In-depth understanding of Windows service logons, Active Directory gMSA, and ACL permissions.
• Experience with Gradle, Git, and CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

Good to have

• Experience with CyberArk PAM, OAuth2, or PKI certificate management for enterprise service credentials.
• Experience using Docker for running pre-initialized integration testing database containers.
