As a Senior Software Engineer for Forecasting & Recommendations at Zeta Global in Bangalore, you will take ownership of backend systems that power critical forecasting, recommendation, and Performance Advisor platforms. In this role, a normal day involves designing, building, and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems and APIs. You will write production-quality code daily, develop event-driven pipelines, integrate machine-learning workflows, and collaborate closely with data science and product teams. Your work centers on ensuring high reliability, performance, and observability through metrics, logging, and incident management while simplifying complex backend infrastructure and mentoring fellow engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services for forecasting and recommendations in production.
• Build low-throughput and high-throughput SaaS services, event-driven pipelines, and APIs.
• Develop scalable backend components supporting AI and machine-learning-driven product capabilities.
• Collaborate with data science, platform, and product teams for seamless integrations.
• Ensure product quality via rigorous code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and continuous improvement.
• Champion system observability and reliability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Participate in production incident response, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• 8 to 12 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable backend systems.
• Strong hands-on ownership track record for production services, improving performance and reliability.
• Expertise in distributed systems design, concurrency, data modeling, and failure handling.
• Experience developing high-throughput, event-driven systems and backend APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native system design and operations.
• Working knowledge of Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL databases like Aerospike, Thrift, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or Scala.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Good to have

• Experience supporting machine-learning-driven systems or forecasting applications.
• Familiarity with modern AI-enabled applications, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows.
