As a Senior Staff Software Engineer for AI Governance at OneTrust in Bengaluru, you will join an organization dedicated to enabling innovation through the responsible use of data and AI. OneTrust provides an AI-Ready Governance Platform that unifies regulatory intelligence, automation, and connected governance workflows to help businesses prevent data misuse at scale. In this role on the AI Governance Engineering team, you will serve as a deep technical expert and leader, shaping next-generation platform capabilities. Your normal day involves influencing architecture, translating complex compliance and agent runtime governance requirements into scalable solutions, partnering with product and engineering leaders, designing secure web services, mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, and tackling ambiguous, open-ended technical challenges from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a deep technical expert and contribute to major components of the AI Governance platform
• Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and platform evolution for distributed systems
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to translate long-term vision into technical roadmaps
• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and highly available services supporting AI governance and controls
• Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives and mentor engineers through design guidance and best practices
• Tackle ambiguous problems and champion performance, reliability, security, and operational excellence
• Collaborate across Product, Design, QA, and Operations to deliver customer-centric outcomes and handle incident responses

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 12+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-grade distributed systems
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures
• Proven experience designing and operating highly scalable, secure, and resilient web services
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, performance optimization, and operational excellence
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams
• Experience working with modern AI platforms, agent frameworks, and LLM-powered applications, plus familiarity with deployment ecosystems like Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry, Google Vertex AI, or Agent Core

Good to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience building AI Governance, Trust & Safety, Security, Compliance, or Observability platforms
• Expertise operating large-scale SaaS platforms in cloud environments
• Experience with agentic AI systems, runtime governance, policy enforcement, or evaluation frameworks
• Strong understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and governance architectures
