As a Staff Software Engineer at OneTrust in Bengaluru, you will help lead technical direction supporting Developer Experience. OneTrust is an AI-ready governance platform that unifies regulatory intelligence, automation, and connected governance workflows, enabling responsible data use and preventing data misuse at scale. In this role, you will work on complex, ambiguous assignments with trusted technical judgment that extends beyond your immediate team. A normal day involves leading the design and architecture for major features, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and architecture groups, establishing engineering best practices, focusing on customer outcomes, and mentoring senior and mid-level engineers to help them grow their technical scope and judgment.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture for major features or components to align with broader system architecture.
- Independently determine methods and approaches on complex, ambiguous assignments without an established playbook.
- Partner with other engineering teams and architecture to shape solutions before implementation begins.
- Build working relationships and technical credibility beyond your immediate team.
- Establish and champion engineering best practices adopted by your team and beyond.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer outcomes.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to grow their technical judgment and scope of ownership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java, Python, Typescript or any other stack (full stack preferred).
- Demonstrated track record leading technical initiatives spanning multiple engineers or systems.
- Deep expertise in frontend and/or backend technologies relevant to OneTrust's platform, including cloud architecture experience.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Devin, Windsurf) in a professional setting.
- Genuine enthusiasm for applying AI to accelerate delivery.
