SentinelOne is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India to join their team working at the intersection of AI and security. SentinelOne provides an AI-native platform that unifies protection across endpoint, cloud, identity, data, and AI systems to deliver autonomous detection and response. In this role, you will lead complex distributed systems end-to-end, shape architectural direction, and help grow the engineers around you. A normal day involves designing and owning large-scale systems from design to production, leading technical delivery on ambiguous initiatives, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, driving root cause analysis for past incidents, and collaborating with stakeholders while balancing speed and long-term technical health.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own large-scale distributed systems end-to-end from design through production
• Drive technical direction and best practices across the team and adjacent teams
• Lead the delivery of complex, ambiguous initiatives with multiple stakeholders
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
• Own past incidents by leading root cause analysis, driving permanent fixes, and sharing learnings
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders and translate technical complexity into business context
• Evaluate technology trade-offs and make pragmatic tech debt decisions balancing speed and long-term health

Requirements

• Bachelor’s with 12+ years, Master’s with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of experience
• Deep knowledge of Java internals including concurrency, JVM, memory model, and performance tuning
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Proven experience designing distributed systems with focus on partitioning, consistency, and availability trade-offs
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms like Kafka or SQS
• Experience with high-scale API design, database design, sharding, and circuit breaker patterns
• Hands-on experience with AWS core services such as EC2, S3, SQS, and IAM
• Experience with Docker, containerisation, and CI/CD pipelines
