As a Staff Software Engineer at OneTrust in Bengaluru, you will join the agile Product Engineering team to build innovative technology that ensures responsible data use and AI governance. OneTrust develops the leading AI-Ready Governance Platform, helping thousands of global organizations unify regulatory intelligence, automation, and connected governance workflows to prevent data misuse at scale. In this role, you will act as a core technical resource, driving complex features from initial design through production. A typical day involves collaborating with product and UX partners, guiding system architecture decisions, conducting peer code reviews, and mentoring associate team members. You will work independently with minimal oversight while proactively identifying risks and exploring advanced AI-assisted development approaches to improve overall software quality and delivery velocity.

Responsibilities

• Independently deliver complex features and components from the design phase through production deployment.
• Drive system architecture and component-design discussions within your area of ownership.
• Partner closely with product, UX, and engineering teams to shape solutions during planning and execution.
• Network with senior engineers across the organization to align on shared technical decisions.
• Conduct peer code reviews and establish high-quality standards for your team.
• Champion testing practices, including exploratory and AI-assisted testing methodologies.
• Support the ramp-up, growth, and mentorship of associate and junior software engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience using Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, microservices, and Kafka messaging.
• Demonstrated experience owning complex features end-to-end in frontend or backend systems.
• Familiarity with at least one public cloud provider such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
• Hands-on professional experience using AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Devin, or Windsurf.

Good to have

• Experience working with agentic platforms including Microsoft Foundry, Agent Core, Google Vertex, and Bedrock.
• Experience informally mentoring or supporting the growth of junior engineers.
