As a Lead Data Engineer in Bengaluru, you will act as a technical cornerstone and founding member of the new data hub. You will architect patterns and standards using a Medallion architecture on a shared data platform including Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow, and AWS. A normal day involves designing global data models, transforming complex data streams from acquired systems into unified datasets, mentoring peers, enabling domain teams, and collaborating with product and platform stakeholders to drive technical excellence and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of global data models across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers using dbt.
• Act as a technical mentor for Data Engineers in Bengaluru through code reviews and pair programming.
• Refactor complex brownfield data models inherited from global acquisitions into scalable models.
• Collaborate with domain engineering teams to improve data quality at the source.
• Translate high-level business questions into scalable data modeling approaches.
• Establish standards for automated testing, data quality checks, and CI/CD best practices.
• Adopt AI tools and agentic workflows to accelerate documentation and modeling productivity.
• Partner with the Data Platform team to ensure effective use of Snowflake, Airflow, Fivetran, and AWS.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering with a focus on data modeling and transformation.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing and pipeline development.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud data warehouses.
• Deep understanding of ELT processes and Medallion architectural patterns.
• Experience working with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Experience using GitHub for version control, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3 and cloud-based data infrastructure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-timezone collaboration.
