As a Senior Software Engineer within the Payments Engineering team at Arrive in Bengaluru, you will help develop and enhance a major payment platform that serves millions of users. In this role, your daily activities will involve collaborating closely with teammates, designing scalable software solutions, building applications using Rust, Kafka, and PostgreSQL, and addressing operational challenges within a cloud-native environment. You will also take full ownership of system reliability, participate in design discussions, handle validation and testing, and mentor junior developers to foster a supportive and high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with the team to communicate progress and remove obstacles.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical growth and team culture.
• Design maintainable and scalable systems with collaborative support.
• Take ownership of deliverable reliability, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Plan and execute system validation to monitor performance and mitigate risks.
• Identify latency or throughput bottlenecks and propose cloud-native improvements.
• Contribute to documentation and ensure learnings are captured from incidents.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of professional software development experience.
• Deep professional experience building and scaling applications using Rust.
• Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Background in cloud native environments and migrating applications to the cloud.
• Experience designing secure-by-design systems with monitoring and root-cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of business domains, user needs, and security risk assessments.

Good to have

• Previous experience with billing, financial systems, or high-volume payment gateways.
• Experience in a formal or informal technical leadership role like Team Lead or Lead Engineer.
