Vultr is expanding its presence in India by building its first Global Integrated Operations Command Center in Chennai, acting as a 24x7 nerve center for global network operations. The Network Engineer role sits within this team, serving as the first line of response for Vultr's global network infrastructure, covering routing, DNS, CDN, and connectivity. In this frontline operations position, you monitor network health signals, connectivity, and link status in real time from a consolidated dashboard. A normal day involves acknowledging and triaging alerts within strict first-response SLAs, executing documented runbooks to resolve common connectivity problems, and escalating complex issues to senior engineers. You will operate on a rotational shift model, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous follow-the-sun coverage. This role protects customer experience and network availability while offering a pathway to grow into advanced network engineering or site reliability engineering careers.

- Acknowledge and triage incoming alerts and incidents within defined first-response SLAs.
- Classify incidents by severity and customer impact, routing them accurately to the appropriate team.
- Execute documented runbooks to resolve common connectivity and routing issues end to end within scope.
- Escalate unresolved or out-of-scope issues to Senior Network Engineers with complete handoff documentation.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, ticket updates, incident timelines, and thorough shift-handover notes.
- Identify recurring alerts and contribute to runbook improvements, knowledge bases, and post-incident reviews.
Requirements

- Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools like ping, traceroute, packet capture, and latency analysis.
- Understanding of incident-management fundamentals, observability tools, ticketing systems, and severity triage.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication for accurate documentation and handoffs.
- Willingness and ability to work a rotational 24x7 shift model including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Good to have
- ITIL V4 Foundation certification or equivalent ITSM knowledge.
- Networking certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA.
- Scripting familiarity with Bash, Python, or PowerShell for routine automation.
- Exposure to cloud networking, GPU infrastructure, or physical L1 troubleshooting.
- Prior experience in a 24x7 NOC environment using tools like JIRA, Confluence, or PagerDuty.
