As a Senior Software Engineer for Tooling & Automation based in Chennai, you will act as the technical owner connecting engineering alerts to Vultr's new Global Integrated Operations Command Center. Your primary mission is to consolidate disconnected monitoring consoles and alert feeds by building a unified single-pane dashboard that serves as the operational backbone for GIOC. In this role, you will design integrations, automate alert routing, and streamline ticketing workflows. A normal day involves analyzing alert streams from platforms like Icinga and Grafana, developing Python and RESTful API integrations, collaborating with cross-functional network and security teams, engineering automated on-call notification systems, and ensuring reliable, continuous infrastructure visibility for 24x7 global operations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering alert streams across Systems, Network, and Security to plan optimal integrations.
- Develop notification layers that funnel high-priority events into the operational toolkit.
- Collaborate with experts to align automated routing logic with escalation and resolution protocols.
- Build a comprehensive single-pane dashboard aggregating monitoring across global providers.
- Engineer seamless on-call notification workflows to drive strict adherence to SLAs.
- Manage side-by-side operations of legacy and modern tools during the transition phase.
- Produce detailed documentation for all routing systems and custom dashboards.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Platform Engineering or similar domains.
- Significant expertise in NMS platforms, Grafana, and major SIEM environments.
- Proven track record of building complex integrations using Python and RESTful APIs.
- Extensive experience crafting dashboards via Kibana, Power BI, or similar visualization tools.
- Deep knowledge of ITSM workflows, specifically Jira and Mattermost.
- Profound understanding of Vultr's monitoring ecosystem and infrastructure stack.
