Senior Technical Writer - GIOC

Vultr is a rapidly growing cloud infrastructure company on a mission to make high-performance cloud solutions accessible globally. As the organization expands its presence in India by establishing its first Global Integrated Operations Command Center in Chennai, it is seeking a Senior Technical Writer. In this position, you will serve as the creator of foundational documentation and enablement materials, establishing a single source of truth for 24x7 operations. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, technical program managers, and international stakeholders to convert technical concepts into clear guides. A normal day involves designing standard operating procedures, mapping out architectures, developing training and knowledge-transfer packages, and organizing the Confluence knowledge base to ensure seamless operations.

Responsibilities

• Create SOPs, runbooks, workflows, and operational checklists for the GIOC.
• Capture system architecture, data flows, and service dependencies through diagrams and process maps.
• Build US-to-India knowledge transfer and training packages to support onboarding and skill development.
• Manage and govern the GIOC Confluence knowledge base, ensuring version control and searchability.
• Partner with engineering SMEs and US stakeholders to facilitate workshops and gather requirements.
• Drive review, approval, and publication of operational readiness artifacts.

Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in technical writing, knowledge management, or operations documentation.
• Background in cloud, infrastructure, NOC/SOC, SRE, DevOps, or datacenter environments.
• Proven ability to create runbooks, SOPs, workflows, and architecture diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with Confluence and Jira or ITSM tools.
• Familiarity with diagramming software such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro.
• Strong technical communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good to have

• Documentation experience specific to NOC, SOC, GIOC, SRE, or live-site operations.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
• ITIL experience and familiarity with AI-assisted knowledge management tools.
