As a Senior Security Engineer for Vultr's new Global Integrated Operations Command Center in Chennai, you will play a critical role in safeguarding cloud infrastructure and customer data. Vultr is a rapidly growing, privately-held cloud provider that makes high-performance computing accessible globally. In this role, you will act as a senior technical leader within the 24x7 security nerve center. Your daily responsibilities involve owning escalated security alerts from team members, performing deep-dive forensic investigations, leading incident response for complex events, and driving threat detection. You will also create detection rules, mentor fellow security staff, and collaborate with engineering teams on remediation. Please note that this position operates on a rotational shift and on-call schedule, covering nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure round-the-clock protection.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive escalated security alerts across SIEM, identity, endpoint, and cloud environments to closure.
• Lead complex forensic investigations, root-cause analyses, and incident response efforts under pressure.
• Act as the technical lead during major incidents, coordinating actions across multiple teams.
• Build, tune, and improve threat detections, correlation rules, and automated SOAR playbooks.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting using the MITRE ATT&CK framework and threat intelligence.
• Author operational runbooks and mentor junior security analysts to improve team capabilities.
• Lead post-incident reviews and track corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of security events.

Requirements

• Graduate or Engineer degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 8 years of professional experience in security operations, SOC environments, or incident response.
• Hands-on expertise utilizing SIEM, EDR, log analysis, and network forensics tools.
• Strong knowledge of attacker techniques, threat intelligence, and the incident response lifecycle.
• Experience with detection engineering, scripting, and automation tools like Python and SOAR.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness and ability to work a rotational 24x7 shift model including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Good to have

• ITIL V4 certification along with familiarity with NIST or SANS frameworks.
• Professional security certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, CySA+, or CISSP.
• Experience with detection-as-code and automated response workflows.
• Exposure to cloud security, container security, and high-density infrastructure.
• Prior experience working in a 24x7 command center or SOC as a senior escalation resource.
