The company is seeking a Senior Database Administrator specializing in Db2 LUW to join their Global Implementation & Operational team. In this role, you will be part of a shared support model helping multiple clients by delivering responsive support services and handling mission-critical infrastructure. A normal day in this position involves working closely with clients on daily project tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, reviewing high-level project requirements, automating database administration best practices, and collaborating with a global team of database administrators. You will help maintain operational excellence across client environments while ensuring databases remain secure, recoverable, and finely tuned for optimal performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, upgrade, and enhance client Db2 LUW environments.
- Perform software installations, patches, and upgrades to Db2 LUW servers and instances.
- Analyze and tune database configurations, physical designs, indexes, and SQL statements for performance.
- Ensure database integrity and recoverability using industry-standard methods.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for 24x7 support and work a rotating shift schedule.
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level database administrators.
- Assist with major technical challenges and serve as an escalation point for complex problems.
Requirements
- More than six years of experience in Db2 LUW database administration.
- Excellent understanding of Db2 LUW technology including builds, upgrades, patching, migrations, and troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience with database performance tuning.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise-class best practices for large database environments.
- Good understanding of Windows and UNIX/Linux platforms.
- Deep understanding of Db2 HADR and TSA/Pacemaker.
- Experience implementing, supporting, and auditing database security alongside transaction log management and backups.
Good to have
- Automation skills in Python, Shell Scripting, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Experience using AI to increase efficiency in database environments.
- Knowledge of advanced Db2 database functions such as federation, encryption, and replication.
- Knowledge of the ITIL framework.
- Database administration experience in public or private cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
